Hot topic of the night: Stick Shift vs. Automatic Transmission. There's only one right answer here and Penalty and Lloyd are going to find it - with help from their beautiful expert guest. Less[-]
Manual save fuel and perfect for short distance driving as in street to street Automatic consume more fuel than manual but it's perfect if you are in a Traffic conjestion or long distance driving.

Lloyd is completely right on this one. Automatic transmission is the death of driving competency in america. Thanks to the automatic transmission, we've removed the driver from the act of driving. This leads to a dangerous situation, namely that driving becomes a chore to be done, rather than an experience to be enjoyed. Now that the driver's participation in driving has been reduced, most drivers find a way to fill the gap in their attention span, with goddamn cell phones. I can't EVEN begin to tell you how many times I've nearly been creamed by idiot drivers on phones, not looking where they're going, changing lanes without signaling, and slamming on brakes at the last minute. Cellphones are fast rising to the level of drunk driver in terms of dangers on the road. Worst of all is people TEXTING while driving. I don't give a damn if your mother is shitting herself to death, YOU DO NOT TEXT THAT OLD HAG ON THE ROAD. This needs to be an offense that ends in license revocation. NO EXCEPTIONS. And the only reason you morons can TEXT and PHONE while driving, is because of the automatic transmission. Thats right. The automatic transmission is an accomplice to at least hundreds of american deaths EVERY. SINGLE.YEAR.
Teach your kids to respect the road. Teach them stick!
hey guys i dont agree with neither but what i think u should do for a episode plz i beg u to do one about the culture of manga and printed media in japan with the voice of the english haruhi suzumiya 11 yr old pre teen begging here
@olivia. Shut up you weeaboo, I don't want to hear about what a kowaii morning you had. You're a sickness on the American cultural landscape. How about you create something and revitalize the nature of graphic novels here in the states? Have you ever even picked up western comics like Transmetropolitan, or 100 Bullets? Your otaku obsession pisses off Americans, and real japanese people consider you an insult. Let me put this out there to all the haters. There isn't anything wrong with liking anime and manga. its when you start begging for attention regarding it in situations that don't call for it, like olivia did here. Kid i may sound harsh, but if you take my advice on this, you're going to end up a LOT better.

TO BE PART OF THIS ARGUMENT, YOU SOULD HAVE OR AT LEAST BE ABLE TO DRIVE A STICK, OTHER WISE YOUR PREFERENCE IS MEANINGLESS. Stick is more involved and effeciant, automatic is easier.
I have totally been with Penalty on the first 3 issues, but on this one, just by car ownership and great gas mileage alone (and not really by overwhelming debate winning me over by Lloyd) I am going for Stick Shift!!! Yeah!
Automatic all the way! Who wants a stickshift anyway? Why should driving be difficult with a stupid stickshift? Stickshifts are killing America! With gas prices today, HYBRIDS KICK BUTT!
Alright guys, traditionally I'm with Loyd on this one. The manual transmission takes the cake of manliness. But if they had let Linda Weiss continue talking, we would have learned that the continuous variable transmission (CVT) is superior to both the automatic transmission and the manual transmission for performance. The CVT transmission has an effectively infinite number of gear ratios whereas your typical AT and MT might have six. What does this mean? The transmission seamlessly changes the gear ratio, effectively keeping the engine in its power band all the time, (the only reason for driving a MT is to help keep the engine in the power band,) without the operator having to shift. The end result is a faster and more efficient vehicle. The only drawback: Not being able to break the tires loose when shifting into second gear.
I agree with Lloyd automatic cars are making driving a car a mindless task requiring hardly any skill at all! plus hybrid driver are just idiots who think they're saving the world from global warming by driving the ir prius and shopping at whole foods im gonna laugh in a few tears when all the hybrid drivers have to change their batery costing them a couple thousand dollars and wasting many natural resources and adding to the lie of fuel efficiency just think about how many non renewable energy sources!
well i don't realy care cause i don't have licence , i m underage . i m 16...
I try to go driving scool and make the baby driver licence....
Sticksifth is good cause it's mecanical?
or auto , u don't need to worry about enge blown
NITE FITE used to be about the music. penalty and lloyd have lost their way... transmission? bermuda triangle? patriotic popsicles? i mean common! lets get to the real issues, like john cougar vs john mellencamp? parliament vs funkadelic? beck vs jeff beck? velvet underground vs velvet revolver?
i am actually neutral stick .. i remember stick but those who havent driven stick as they grew up dont know really how it was i can see how many hate shift where i can see where many hate automatics so im w/ no one on this one
Just Like Lloyd. May I also remind you that he needs to make up for something ABOVE (hint: his brain!)

You should know, Penalty, about making up for something ABOVE. No hint needed: You're bald!

I concede that stick is more fun. However, those automatic transmissions that you can kinda do a stick shift take the best of both worlds. Since it's really an automatic in disguise, Penalty wins.
Hi there. Perhaps you guys could, oh, I don't know.. Debate about things a little more "in-depth"? I love the enthusiasm of the show, but I want to see more arguing. More opinions. More fighting. Please and thank you.
This is "in-depth" sir. There is nothing more in-depth than the hard charging action of Nite Fite. I would know, I'm the one charging. If you'd get your head out of a book for once and listen, you'd know that. ps - thank you for watching
pps - and buying Starburst products

if u can drive a car u drive it manual or flap paddle gearbox
thend
Stick shift is better ina big number of ways, but most ppl like automatic because they can do everything else except pay attention to the road or move their articulations. Stick is cooler, cheaper, you save gas, get more power from engine and if battery dies you can start it anyway!

Yea I REALLY want to have keep one hand on the friign transmission and hit the friggin clutch every time I need to change a gear - the hell with that noise: AUTOMAATIIICCCC FOR THE WIN
People keep using the term "easy" to describe automatics. Is that how this country is heading? Are we becoming so lazy and fat that shifting a manual tranmission has become too diffilcult and tiresome. Please tell me it isnt so. And manuals do encourage the driver to focus on the task at hand, which is driving, not eating, not talking on the phone or the worst one of all - texting.
Manual is the only way to go they are lighter and faster but the new twin cluch squentual manual gearboxis found in the new Mitsubichi EVO 10 & Nissan GTR witch in the case of the GTR can change in 0.2 of a second I would not mind having ether.
Zach, Get your mind out of the gutter. Her boobs are still bigger than your brain, though.

I know they've only got a week to make a short, but with the Starburst money can they hire some more animators and make something maybe 30 seconds longer w/some detail? That may be going against what they're trying to achieve but I really don't know which side to pick. But this whole thing is a great idea.

Auto is easier and less annoying in the city. Stick shifts are good for only one thing - the first 45 seconds of a long stretch of highway.
stick shift vs. automatic? its all about personal opinion, its too much of a grey area to decide officially which is "better". some people like stick shift because its "more fun" or whatever, but others like automatic because its easier and requires less effort and focus, so they can also focus on driving safely, or whatever they need to be focusing on. i personally perfer automatic, because its easier.
Stick FTW!!! Manual is for 60+ year olds or people who have only one hand. O and btw if your thinking of buying a hybrid just because they "consume less fuel" they dont, they are even worst than a similar non hybrid car. http://www.wheels.ca/article/31204

It's 'slowly' not "slow" you ignorant American! No wonder you broke away the Brits; you couldn't learn the language.

Side note Stick shifts are stolen far less then automatics!
How ever Stick shifts are Vandalised More due to The Would be Car thief getting pissed that it's a stick.
Most people can't drive sticks.
ok I'ma put my nerd away now.
Stick shift, nothing like taking control of you life one gear at a time. Automatics are great for drag racing, but doing the 1320 ft with a stick shift is a man's job
Then try running next time. It looks like you could use the exercise. And it'll reduce your carbon footprint, so your next pair of shoes will need less leather to make them.
I prefer stick shift, but I respect people who like to drive AT, I live in a city with heavy traffic, and sometimes I wish I had an AT vehicle, but MT is A LOT better for uphill and downhill driving as it gives you more control over the car, wich is important if you have a small car with small engine.
Linda or bonita can both be translated as pretty... beautiful would be "hermosa"... I don´t see the point on insulting people over such a little detail.
I can guarantee you that if you take the same car, one with auto and one with manual, take two drivers of equal skill in both types of transmissions, and had them clock 0-60, the manual would win every time. The power distribution from the engine to the wheels is far superior to that of an automatic. That's a proven fact.

only people who can't drive for sh*t are slower with a stick shift because they don't know how, if your good at it no one can really tell if it is a stick.

Automatics and hybrids are why this country is heading for a recession! Linda Weiss proved Lloyd's point! Are you guys blind?
Pfft...auto is for just the daily mindless commute to work. If you've ever driven anything with even an iota of performance value, you would understand there is a reason for manually shifting the transmission. Ex. Bugatti Veyron. Nuff said. P.S. I love Dan, but Penalty needs to grow a pair ;)
I agree. Penalty has turned from a middle aged heavy metal fan to a hybrid driving hippie since the first nite fite meth minute. Lloyd's been stealing the show since then.

I couldn't have said it better myself. There are numerous reasons why high performance and top of the line automobiles. Better fuel economy (for several reasons that I won't explain because most people probably won't care or understand)
They are lighter (in weight) than automatics
They are less expensive
Much more efficient
A huge increase in the driver's control of the vehicle
It requires that you pay more attention, discouraging irresponsible driving
Most manuals can push start if your battery dies The advantages FAR outweigh the disadvantages, many of which are no longer valid once the driver has enough experience with a stick shift. And any new driver will have difficulty driving a car regardless of the type of transmission.

STICK SHIFT WTFX? if you have any driving skill whatsoever driving stick is infinitely superior! you have much more control over the vehicle. and it's badass.
I'm with Penalty. Stick is okay, but I'd much rather drive automatic. It's just easier. Not to mention Penalty has about the same skills with the ladies that I do. Great episode this week!
