@Go Spy Go: No idea what was happening but enjoyed it nonetheless. Great animation.

  • mattm wrote on October 28, 3:43 pm

@In the Rough: Superb. The best of Episode 1.

  • mattm wrote on October 28, 3:44 pm

@Mantelope: Very enoyable short. Was even more enjoyable once I realised who was behind it. I mean, DAVE THOMAS! BILLY WEST! Flippin' Heck!

  • mattm wrote on October 28, 3:44 pm

@Barrista: Had me gripped. Loved it!

  • cal6n wrote on October 28, 4:47 pm

@In the Rough: On a scale of "meh" to "woot".....WOOT!

  • elmimmo wrote on October 28, 4:50 pm

@In the Rough: I do not know if it is a requirement for iPods (which I do not own), but whatever the case the original was 24 fps, and the encoder simply duplicated 1 frame out of every four in order to bring it up to 30fps, which makes every panoramic move look awful. The short is awesome, though.

  • JohnHoldun wrote on October 28, 10:10 pm

@Barrista: More proof that writing is more important than technical skills, and that minimalism is /totally hip/. Fantastic.

  • mahz wrote on October 29, 8:04 am

@In the Rough: Absolutely great cartoon!

Nice lighting, good atmosphere, and the best WB cartoon inspired humor I've seen in a while. Though I don't think it's quite up there with Pixar, it sure beats the pants off Dreamworks latest uh works.

The story does drag on a bit in the end though. Should have ended with a bang.

  • leenus wrote on October 29, 9:41 am

    @Barrista: Loved it.

  • leenus wrote on October 29, 9:43 am

@In the Rough: Fantastic animation, but maybe not the best script in the world.

  • leenus wrote on October 29, 9:43 am

    @Go Spy Go: Great music.

  • YogiNinja wrote on October 29, 11:11 am

  • YogiNinja wrote on October 29, 11:18 am

@Mantelope: Funny! And I liked the old school look.

  • naevity wrote on October 30, 10:53 am

@Go Spy Go: needed a plot or a point

  • TorMen wrote on October 30, 2:32 pm

@Barrista: the last scene... bueno running away - best moment i've recently seen.

  • TorMen wrote on October 30, 2:34 pm

@In the Rough: check out the moment when bear flies over the main character - marvellous!

  • Eggie wrote on October 30, 3:23 pm

@In the Rough: Watch out Pixar? More like...admire the fruit of your inspiration, Pixar. I mean everythin; lighting, movement, facial expressions was all completely derived from the Pixar in-house style. Not that that's a bad thing, of course.

  • Eggie wrote on October 30, 3:27 pm

@Mantelope: Nicely done. The premise is formulaic but it's a tried and tested good formula. Flash seems like a pretty appropriate tool for bringing that old low-budget animation style into the 21st century. I think some of the motion tweens were a little too slow to effectivly fool the eye. I don't know if the team shouldf be criticised for this or praised for sacrificing fluidity (is that a real word) for good timing.

  • JJLain wrote on October 30, 5:20 pm

@In the Rough: make more! make more! very entertaining!!

  • MrZ wrote on October 30, 5:56 pm

@In the Rough: Awesome, reminded me of a "rough" Shrek.

  • MrZ wrote on October 30, 5:57 pm

    @Go Spy Go: I second naevity's point

  • MrZ wrote on October 30, 5:58 pm

@Mantelope: Well said, I enjoyed the goofy simplistic nature of it. And it tells a cool classic story in a new fashion.

  • acevoncash wrote on October 30, 9:00 pm

@Barrista: Its.. interesting. I think its quite funny. in a weird sorta way...

  • acevoncash wrote on October 30, 9:01 pm

@In the Rough: amazing. that was the best.

  • acevoncash wrote on October 30, 9:01 pm

@Go Spy Go: it makes a great theme song. now all they need is an actual show.

  • acevoncash wrote on October 30, 9:02 pm

@Mantelope: Definantly reminds me of the old days.

    love it

  • Kent wrote on October 30, 9:16 pm

  • stirpicus wrote on October 31, 10:10 am

@Barrista: Quirky and fun, but kinda left me scratching my head.

  • stirpicus wrote on October 31, 10:12 am

@In the Rough: A cute story, fantastic lighting and atmosphere paired with the excellent Looney Tunes-esque animation made this one a lot of fun to watch.

  • stirpicus wrote on October 31, 10:12 am

@Go Spy Go: Works for a music video, not sure I'd want to see a show all done in that style..

  • stirpicus wrote on October 31, 10:14 am

@Mantelope: Very Rocky n Bullwinkle/Dudley Dooright, it was very neat and would definetely stand out among a line-up of today's shows, which all seem to have anime elements in them....

  • tohoscope wrote on November 2, 4:58 pm

  • xopher wrote on November 22, 12:30 am

@Barrista: i think the characters are nice. i liked the naive aesthetic.

  • xopher wrote on November 22, 12:32 am

@In the Rough: not bad. the hunting sequence was effective.

  • xopher wrote on November 22, 12:34 am

@Go Spy Go: i loved the mixture of drawing and photography. very effective. makes me want to see the show, but i'd prefer not to have a plot at all. just more music like that and montage.

  • xopher wrote on November 22, 12:35 am

@Mantelope: mantelope is my hero. let me hear him beller again!

  • invader wrote on November 23, 9:54 pm

@In the Rough: hmm... no fair contest ... big studios vrs. 1 lone animator ? ...

    short is awesome .regardless...

  • invader wrote on November 23, 10:23 pm

@Mantelope: For such a big studio... this short is very uninspiring. I mean it looks nice, the animation is ok but the formulaic crap and awkward/badly timed jokes dont work.

  • unoefe wrote on December 2, 5:03 pm

@Mantelope: I liked it. Weird and funny.

  • unoefe wrote on December 2, 5:04 pm

@Barrista: Kind of liked it but didn't find it very funny. However, I am interested in seeing more from this animator.

  • unoefe wrote on December 2, 5:05 pm

@Go Spy Go: Blending the animation with real video was cool but the drawing style kind of grates on me. Didn't leave me wanting to see a full show.

  • unoefe wrote on December 2, 5:06 pm

@In the Rough: Outstanding. Loved the animation and laughed through the whole think.

  • siskavard wrote on December 3, 1:05 pm

@Go Spy Go: Great aesthetic & very pop. The characters all look alike & the animation is minimal. Would be nice if the characters had... character. Very fun nonetheless !

  • siskavard wrote on December 3, 1:06 pm

@Mantelope: Extremely well done! Fantastic design, extremely appealing characters. I would love to see some more episodes!

  • siskavard wrote on December 3, 1:08 pm

@In the Rough: I was absolutely blown away. This short was fun & fast paced. Great character depth, excellent story. I don't know where to begin about the animation! Nice just nice!

  • siskavard wrote on December 3, 1:09 pm

@Barrista: Nice, dry humor. I'm not a fan of minimalist/naive animation. Still got a chuckle out of it though!

  • CalicoMnky wrote on December 6, 1:55 am

@Mantelope: I really liked the design, the backgrounds especially, but the premise is too cliched to be entertaining.

  • CalicoMnky wrote on December 6, 1:58 am

@Barrista: Just because you can make a short with seven drawings, should you? Binary talkers make Baby Jesus sad.

  • CalicoMnky wrote on December 6, 1:59 am

@In the Rough: This has been out in the nethers for a while, but I dig it. It seems slightly meandering, but it's funny and pretty. Rock on.

  • CalicoMnky wrote on December 6, 2:00 am

@Go Spy Go: The music and style make my heart twitch in unpleasant ways. Stop the ride, I'd like to get off now.

  • cfrocks wrote on December 9, 3:54 am

  • antimax wrote on December 12, 3:24 pm

@Barrista: CalicoMnky: Yes! yes you should! Actually, YOU should! This is hilarious, and that's mostly what matters. not how many frames you see in a certain amount of time. Baby Jesus IS a binary talker, these days.

  • zakarth wrote on January 1, 8:45 am

  • Wolfsong wrote on January 4, 5:49 pm

@Mantelope: This was my fav of episode 1. I took it as an homage to the great Chase cartoons from the golden age of animation. I noticed that Maurice Noble was listed as a consultant, (despite his having passed away in 2001) he was layout artist on many classic Warner Bros. cartoons.

  • FantasyNow wrote on January 4, 9:23 pm
